Walking on the Lee Navigation

A good start to the new year!
Another walk on the Capital Ring.
This time section 13 between Stoke  Newington and Hackney /wick.
The high spot was the chance to walk along the Lee Navingation for a good part of the walk.
Despite the grey and overcat day the walk was refreshing!
No narrow boats chugging but plenty moored.
There has been some 'confusion' about the river's name or some time. It was called the Ley on very early maps and then latter the river Lea.
The river flows from the Chiltern hills near Luton and into the Thames at Bow Creek.
For many centuries the river or navigation has provided a major communication link and barges currently use part of the route for building works for the 2012 Olympics.
