Painting it black
All 72 foot of Iona was sitting in the sun out of the water at Harris Boat yard on Friday afternoon
Her current owners are the Godalming Packetboat company and they were certainly not sitting in the sun! They were hard at work cleaning her down and 'painting her black'.
Wow they were working hard.................
In no time at all one side was shining black. But the preparation took hours and hours!
Iona was built in 1935 by Harland and Wolfe for tyhe Grand Union Canal Carrying Company.
Originally she was called Bellerphon. Since 1985 she has worked as a horse drawn trip boat and still does.
