Over the Torridge Estuary at Bideford

Rising high above the River Torridge is the 'new' Bideford Bridge.
It's not really 'new' anymore as it opened to the public in 1987!
It takes the A39 Atlantic Highway well north of the town of Bideford and finally relieved the amazing 24 pointed arch long bridge in the town centre.
The 'new' bridge was built by balanced cantilever construction with internal cables.
